O No! This Iraola Chica is Going to Take CHARGE!!
Ok so here it is.... Yesterday Jalina comes home from school all upset because some boy in her class slapped her across the face. I was like "what?". She was so upset. I asked her what she did back and she said "Mama, it is not nice to hit". So then we had to have a long talk. So for all of you that know me by now... Tell me what I did today?????Done guessing? First I called the School Principal and had a really long talk about this. Then I called the Karate school near me. Yup! She starts tomorrow at 11:00. This kid will let NO ONE ever touch her again. I have no tolerance at all for hitting. As you all know, I am one strict MAMA and I will not have someone hit my child. So now it's time for this lil' Iraola to fight back.. I know you are all thinking...this is the begining of many hits or arguemnts with 13+ years to go with school, but if I can start now with dispiline, respect and self defense then you know I am right on that... More to be posted once I get some pics of her in her uniform...

Parent's Workshop
I joined a 6 week program at Jalina's school yesterday. It is called a Parent Workshop. Basically it is for parents that need some advice on "how to talk so that kids will listen" and "how to listen so kids will talk". I know that I am doing a great job with Jalina and it shows. She is an amazing kid with great disapline but I am always open to learn new things. I mean I do have my moments and so doesn't she. It's those moments that sometimes I think we ALL need help on how to handle. The class is an hour and half long and worth every minute. It was great. I wish all parents could have the opportunity to go. The gentleman was a great speaker. He really has your interest. I wasn't sure what to expect. It was worth it tho.

First project for school....
Jalina was sent home with instructions on her 1st project of the school year. I was so very excited to do this. If you know me, then you know that I am one for crafts. Jalina is just like me, so I knew this would be fun. She was told to decorate and apple using things around the house or outside and just be creative. Jalina also has to go to the front of the class tomorrow and talk about her apple and who helped her and what she used. I think this is great! I am going to admit that I was going to take control and just do the apple the way I picured it but then the teacher will say "she didn't do it" So I stepped back. Can u imagine me not taking control of this project? I know you are laughing cause you all know me and this apple would have to be the most perfect with glitter and glam. BUT NO!!! I didn't. I sat with Jalina and asked her what she wanted to do and let her do the imagining. The bottom line is that I am proud of myself for stepping back and letting her take charge. Let me tell you about this apple and how creative my Angel is.
Painted with a bright red paint first. Used a stick she found from outside for the stem. Grass for the "bangs" Jalina said. Silver glitter around the neck for a necklace. Gold glitter eyebrows...(I wanted eyelashes but she picked eyebrows) lol. An almond for the nose from my trail mix that I was eating while she was doing this. A leaf from the tree. A piece of white ribbon for the mouth. Sprinkle of glitter for the cheeks and a set of googly eyes that Mama had laying around (don't ask). I think I covered it all. I am so proud of her and so happy that she can get up there tomorrow and talk about what SHE did not me and what she used and how she created it herself.
Back To School!
Back in the ZONE...that is what Jalina needed. After some Summer fun now it is time to get back to the school mode. Now that her two years of Pre-School are done, the years will fly.. I am one for making sure that no one is slacking so of course I went out and bought books so that I can home teach as well. Every night since she has been back to school and dinner is done, time for homework. I have her do 3 pages a night in books that I bought from the store just to keep the wheels going. Plus it shows me how she reacts to things she may not have a easy time with in class and we can work on it together. I mean she is 5 so 3 pages a night is enough then she can play. I know I know...I am strict, but hey! this is what you have to do to get structure...I am not going to raise my daughter to be a slacker...
Do you remember this game?
Jalina and I were walking through Target yesterday and for some weird reason this game caught my eye. All I could think about is how fun I had as a kid playing. So I told Jalina about it and we bought it. We both were so excited to play but of course on the ride home she fell asleep and didn't wake up til' this morning. I can' wait to play. We are just waiting for Daddy to wake up since he loved that game too. I luv the old school games. I need to start picking one up a week so that I can start a little collection for Jalina. Nothing like some family fun. She is at the perfect age to start board games. This is up my alley for sure!!

My Baby Is Home!!!!!!!!!!
I just got back from picking up Jalina from school. Full of dirt ( i didn't even care )..I was working on the house. So I am driving there and there is so much traffic. Why do they have to do road work during the day??? I will never understand that. I am a calm driver, so I just took deep breathes and prayed to pick her up on time. Today was all about timing and I wasn't sure what time to leave to get her. Once I get there with 2 minutes to spare, my heart is racing looking for her in all the crowds. I know she is with her teacher, but besides work, when is the last time Jalina was away from me for 6 hours...I could hear her calling me but I didn't see her. My heart was racing so fast. Then at the end of the crowd there she was with the BIG SMILE on her face. I didn't care who was next to me. I picked her up and squeezed her so tight (started to cry again) of course. I carried her all the way to the truck like a newborn. I didn't care. I just wanted my baby in my arms. WOW! this day was a long one for me. Can you imagine me when she tells me she wants to go away for college.. I will be on triple PROZAC...lol lol...All that mattered is that she had the best day.
Here we go! Jalina's 1st day of Kindergarten....
Do you think this was easy for me? I cried like a baby. Jalina asked me why I was crying and I told her that I was just happy. Deep down it is because I could still picture her at Mass General 3 months early 2lb 2oz and holding on to survive. Now look at her...What a MIRACLE. For all of you that went through this with me, isn't this amazing???? I am so proud of her and I have to give alot of credit to myself as well. I may be strict, but she is an example of what I teach. She is such a good kid and so ready for her 1st day of Kindergarten. I remember 2 years back when I enrolled her into a private pres-school and on the 1st day I was at work and had such a melt down. I couldn't stop crying. I even called her Pediatrician and asked her how to cope with this. I was sick all day. Mind you her Pediatrician is a private office and she is such a wonderful woman and so personable that I felt so comfortable telling her that I was beside myself. People at work laughed at me but I don't care because until you are in the situation, then you have no idea. Don't forget, Jalina didn't come home for 3 months. I had to come home with no baby so when she did come home it was hard to let her leave again. Now you see why I am so crazy about my baby GIRL.... This ones for you Jalina. I love you Mama and you are my shining STAR.... Te Amo Mucho xoxoxoxoxoxoxo

Let's Kick It Back A Few Days...
Let's Play Ball!!! Took Jalina to her 1st Live Red Sox Game on Tuesday night. It was so cute to see how amazed she was from begining to the end. The train, the crowds, the music, the players and just being there. We had really good seats. Put it this way, the lady next to me caught a fowl ball. Of course I thought the ball looked like it was going to hit us. You should have seen me protecting Jalina's head. I felt bad tho, cause Jalina was asking alot of baseball questions, and I don't have a clue. I was just amazed that she was amazed. I just watched her face the whole night. As we left the game, she took my hand and looked at me and said "Thanks Mama for taking me this game, it was much fun and I love you mama...you are my best friend"...if that doens't make you cry then you are not human..
Jalina, that night was for you....Yes, we are best friends...
I did it....I met Gavin DeGraw and his parents!
Rock it Gavin!. Of course tons of laughs at the Wilbur with Flor! I think Gavin just earned himself another fan. I really enjoyed the show and seen a different side of his music. I even went up to his parents so that my friend could talk to them. Now who does that for their friends? ME of course. It made her night and that is what matters to me. Til next time Flor! always a memory with you. Luv u so much!

~ANGEL KISSES~
Do you know what those are?
They are the BEST kisses anyone can ever receive. In a conversation yesterday with a friend we talked about this one and we both agreed that this is the kiss that makes the heart melt. An Angel Kiss is when someone "has to be a special person" places a soft kiss on your forehead. I tell Jalina all the time, not to kiss on the lips...(not til she is 50, lol). So she gives me Angel Kisses all the time. Nothing like a sweet Angel Kiss from someone special. Right under that is a wink of an eye makes me smile. I don't know what it is, but I think it is kinda sweet when someone winks at you. Might I add, that the person has to mean something to you. See, little things can mean something. I know to me they do. I am a pretty sensetive person. I am full of PASSION. The smallest things give me the chills. Anyone can give you an Angel Kiss or a sweet Wink, but when that special someone does, you can let me know how it feels. To me, it's magic! Right Flor?
